Alaska · ForeclosureAlaska redemption after an execution or judicial sale: before confirmation or 12 months after

Alaska's redemption statute applies to property sold subject to redemption on execution. The property, or any part sold separately, may be redeemed by the judgment debtor and by a creditor with a later judgment or mortgage lien on it, who then becomes a redemptioner (AS 09.35.220). The judgment debtor or a successor in interest may redeem before the court confirms the sale by paying the purchase money with interest at 8% a year from the date of sale, plus any taxes – and, for unpatented mining claims, required assessment work – and expenses under AS 09.35.300(b) that the purchaser or a redemptioner paid after the purchase; if the debtor doesn't redeem before confirmation, the debtor may redeem only within 12 months from the order of confirmation (AS 09.35.250). These sections govern sales subject to redemption; a trustee's sale under a deed of trust follows its own chapter, AS 34.20.
