Recording · 3 statesRecording fees by state: per instrument, per page and the extras
Recording the deed and the buyer's mortgage is a closing cost, and the statutes set the base fees. Oklahoma: the county clerk charges $8 for the first page of a deed, mortgage or other instrument and $2 for each additional page, plus $10 for each instrument recorded for records preservation; an instrument that doesn't conform to the format rules in 19 O.S. §298(C) costs $25 for the first page and $10 for each additional page (28 O.S. §32(A), (C)). Alabama: the judge of probate charges $3 a page for filing and recording, $1 for indexing each name beyond two grantors or two grantees, and $1 a page for copies (Ala. Code §12-19-90(b)). - Keep transfer and mortgage taxes separate from recording fees when reviewing the settlement statement.
